The biography on Sonny Liston said he was a rapist as well. I remember reading it in the bookstore, but for some reason when I bought it later from another place, that section was left out.

That book was a little disappointing though. The writer gave like a 2-page description on the size of Liston's manhood. I always highly question (doubt) the author's claim that Archie Moore threw his fight with Rocky Marciano.

I would guess it was false information. I wouldn't be though if Liston did do something more than just beat up a few guys for the mob...

Ron Lyle was another former convict turned boxer. He spent over 7 years in prison for second degree murder.

Yea Ron Lyle is probably a much worse criminal than Tyson though. And imo Ron Lyle looks a bit scaryer too. But atleast he doesn't threaten his opponents by telling them he's going to eat their kids.
On a sidenote: what is second degree manslaughter? Does it mean he killed more than one human or that he intenionally killed someone? Or something else?

Several things...
Personally, I would say that Tyson was a "worse criminal" than Lyle because Tyson boasted about mugging 80 year old women for money. Lyle never bragged on beating up an old woman. To me, that means a lot. Lyle's crime was worse (someone died) but the other guy he fought at least had a chance.

Also, Manslaughter, as I understand it, is more like the "heat of the moment thing" rather than a planned out murder. Two guys get in a fight, one guy beats the other one so bad that he dies. Manslaughter. On the other hand, two guys plan on robbing and shooting someone to get rid of witnesses. Murder.

As for Lyle, he was accused of killing someone in a gang fight, which got him sent to Colorado State Prison. Later on, when he got out, he was accused of killing someone else, but was found "Not Guilty."
