There is no doubting Liston's heart and tungsten chin! He fought on with a broken jaw in one of his fights and had the hardest jab in Heavyweight history and once Sonny hit you you weren't getting up! The way in which he lost in both Ali fights sullied his reputation, especially the second fight where Liston racked up a very impressive 15 wins with 14 by ko! Liston also lost two years of Boxing in his prime when imprisoned for his criminal ways and mob connections. Liston was also older than his official bio claimed!

Sonny lived a sad life but in spite of it all he was one of the greats. Just think, he may well have been past his prime when he won the title from Patterson. The prime Liston is someone we rarely get to see but if you watch his two fights with Cleveland Williams you'll get a glimpse of just what we missed. At his best Sonny was a destroyer: One punch power set up by a top three all time jab. Despite being only 6'1" he almost always had the reach advantage on his opponents. He was a true intimidater and when Foreman and Tyson stuck fear into their opponents they were paying homage to Sonny. A great, great fighter he had the misfortune of rising to the top at the same time as the greatest great: Muhammed Ali. All in all I rate Liston 6th on my all-time Heavyweight list: Yes he was THAT good!

          my top 5.
I respect the fact you put your list up there, but Marciano at #5 is very surprising. I completely agree with the top four though. I think Ruddock, Tua, and Lewis hit a lot harder than Marciano. I think Wlad hits harder too.
