Ali's win over Liston. Not only did it usher in the coming of one of the greatest ever it helped usher in the era of social reform within the United States.

I truly believe that Ali's struggles with the government, along with sagging support for the war in Vietnam helped define a generation of people that stood up for what was right regardless of anything else.

Ali was still undefeated,Liston had loses,Ali had a gold medal, and was well known,Liston was considered by Some as invincible, once again he had loses on his record.Liston wasnt super popular back then.

Buster was NOT undefeated ,Tyson had NO LOSES,Buster wasnt even on the map.Tyson was considered by alot as invincible.Liston was popular, but not Tyson popular back then.

        That should do it.

Of course Tyson-Douglas was a bigger upset, but the question was which fight had a bigger impact on boxing history.

If Douglas hadn't beaten Tyson, someone else would have, maybe Holyfield. If Clay never fought Liston, Sonny would probably go on being the champ for a couple more years before gettin taken down by a young contender.

If Liston was fighting guys that got even-odds then he would've been champ 'till Foreman, Frazier, older Ali took it ('70+). Lets face facts..

Yeah Douglas was a 42 to 1 underdog, Liston was a previously beaten, much older champ with only 1 title defence (the same guy he won the title from.)
Ali was clearly a much bigger dog than he should have been, but he damn sure wasn't a 42 to 1 dog.
