The Hall isn't very selective these days (or ever for that matter). In my opinion the Hall Of Fame is for the guys who are the creme da le creme of the boxing world.
I'm talking the true elite fighters....Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Joe Louis..those types of guys. Its mean to seperate the true greats from the good. Thats my opinion anyway.

Well, they do the same thing in other Hall of Fames, such as baseball and football, so boxing is no different. In baseball they started off with Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, Christy Mathewson and Honus Wagner, now they have players that never batted over .300 or hit 40 homeruns.

I know. Kind of defeats the purpose of a Hall Of Fame.
I think Lennox Lewis deserves to be a hall of famer, but all IMO of course.
Tyson should be to, because of his popularity, his record of being the youngest boxer to become undisputed and his impressive record and first round KO's.
Joe Louis, because of his 25 defenses,
Ali because he beat a lot of big names.
Holyfield might edge in there to..
Robinson because of his extreme skill for his day.
A hall of famer for me should be a significant boxer that has gained world wide recognition at some time or another, and has a great record or something special such as "undefeated, 25 title defenses, youngest ever or 4 time world champion etc...)
Also, Lennox Lewis went to my high school, Cameron heights, and the heavy bag is still hanging in the training room! its a 200 lb one I believe. apparently he was an avid basketball player before he got into boxing.

I think the vast majority of Hall Of Famers are there because they WERE GREAT, I'd be interested to see who you think should be cut from the list I really would but bring along a comprehensive list please. My opinion is that in the last 131 years have seen at LEAST 300 GREAT fighters but I do admit that there are a FEW different levels of greatness, like the level of National Great, International Great, LEGEND and SUPER GREAT MEGA LEGEND. An Example of someone who's a National great, let take some Aussies, VIC PATRICK, RON RICHARDS and GEORGE BARNES, the old blokes still rave about them. and an Aussie INTERNATIONAL GREAT, LIONEL ROSE. We could all name some of the guys at those other levels. Let me know what you reckon............R.I.P. LIONEL

BOXING unlike Ball sports like Baseball and Cricket have reliable statistics (well I don't know much about Baseball but I KNOW Cricket). In Cricket where there are many intangible's things even out in time and a Test Batting averages really separates The VERY Great. The incomparable DON BRADMAN ( Sir Donald ) had a batting average of 99.97 runs per innings compared to the next reliable average (any player who played over say 25 tests) by GRAHAM POLLOCK Of South AFRICA who averaged about 62.00. In Other words Bradman was very near to being TWICE as good as anyone who ever lived so if the cricket HALL OF FAME used your reasoning Don Bradman would be THE ONLY BATSMAN in the H.O.F. and I'm very sure the ENGLISH would NOT LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(we call the English POMS if you are American or somethin'),...
