After the fight was over and Leonard reached out to shake his hand Duran just brushed it aside. What a classless bastard! Maybe that's how it was in Panama or something, but common friggin' decency is universal. And then he started making lude jestures at Leonard and Wilfredo Benitez, who was ringside, acting like he destroyed Leonard or something. I thought the fight could have went either way. And even before the fight, Duran made personal attacks at Leonard and his family. Talking bad about the opponent is one thing, but to stoop so low as to go after the family with personal attacks is just inexcusable. He called his wife a hoar, on top of other things. And then carrying on after the fight like he was the baddest man in the world was just comical. Saying that he won the fight because he was "more of a man", then Leonard. Sure he was more of a man. Making personal attacks about Ray's wife, acting up after the fight like a little biotch 12 year old who got his lollipop taken away from him, and refusing to shake his hand after the fight is real mature manliness huh idiot? At least Leonard conducted himself with class that night, and he was more of a man than Duran will ever be. During the fight I think Leonard matched him blow-for blow, and IMO the yell of the crowd may have been the deciding factor in the scoring of the fight. Everytime Duran did something good they yelled with excitement. Even when he missed they cheered. When Leonard did something good there was no reaction whatsoever. Maybe that's why many people here claim that Duran annihilated Ray or something to that nature. Nobody annihilated anybody. Karma is a dog, and Duran got just what he deserved in the rematch. This time instead of going to war, Leonard did what he was supposed to do, box him. Leonard's plan that night was to stick, move, taunt, and embarass! Duran was out of his element. Sure he could handle a guy that came right at him, but put some movement on him and he's lost. I was so glad Ray humiliated him like that, and was dishing out the same treatment he was getting from Duran before. You know the old saying, "He can dish it out, but he certainly can't take it!". Ray humiliatingly beat him up and made him quit like the ***** he is! To me that victory was more decisive than the decision win from Monreal. No doubt Ray took a portion of Roberto Duran's legend that night. I'm now adding Duran-Leonard II, and Hearns-Duran to my "favorite fights" collection. Well, I'm done.
Duran was very different away from the ring. Even Ray Leonard said that away from the ring he was the nicest guy you'd ever meet. In the ring was a different story: He was an animal, and he worked himself into a fury everytime he stepped throught those ropes.

U should be careful what u say.
Ali shouted his moth of plenty and insulted quite a few fighters, and look what happened to him. Karma is a dog?

As for Duran celebrating after his win over Leonard, it wasnt as over the top and embarrassing as Ali jumping around like a fool after Liston took a dive in their rematch.

Duran dominated Leonard on a scoring basis in their first fight. You want to give Leonard credit for holding his own (with a lightweight, lol) go ahead, but that doesn't mean the fight was close. Duran was getting the better of it in most of the rounds.

"Maricón" is a derogatory term aimed at gays, much like the "F" word, if you will... "Puta" is the most common usage for "*****."

Yup, I was just about to say that. Ali wasnt greatest sportsmen sometimes after fights..

As for Leonard, I like him.. That era was great IMO.. Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Leonard between those four right there was some awesome fights and Im not gonna hate on any of them.

Hearns outboxed Leonard in the first fight, won about 10 rounds before getting tapped.

Leonard also admits that his approach to the Hagler fight was to throw bogus flurries in the last thirty seconds of rounds and fool the crowd/judges into his support.

The bold parts coming from an Ali fan?

I see a pathetic case of sour g****s.

Say what you will about Durán, but there's something to be said about the fact that he won the hearts and minds of fans everywhere. No matter against whom, or where he fought, the majority always rooted for him and chanted his name, Doo-ran! Doo-ran! Doo-ran!

He was always "The People's Champion" and despite losing the trilogy to him, he will forever be more popular than Sugar Ray Leonard. It is no accident that Duran is consistently ranked an average of 14 places ahead of Leonard on the ATG list.

When did Leonard say he threw bogus flurries to fool the crowd and judges?

Ive always had Leonard winning that fight, he threw fast combinations and was hardly going to load up with single shots to try and KO Hagler, he always threw flurries.
I dont see how making Hagler miss and scoring with punches is fooling anyone.

It just sounds like bull**** to me. That anyone who thought Leonard won has been fooled!
