What year do think Larry Holmes could have beat Ali

I know they fought in 1980 and Ali was not in condition because he took drugs to loss weight but could larry have beaten Ali sooner if he got the opportunity.

Ali vs Holmes are truthfully two different eras!!
Their career cross into one another but Larry was a green kid sparing with Ali and always did great in sparing but everyone did great in sparing Ali!!

I think around 1977 or 78 Larry was ready but Ali was already on the other side of his career so it wasn't a real fare match up! Its one thing to see Willie Mays drop a fly ball or to see Mantle hobble down the base path but to see the Great Joe Louis or Ali be helpless in a ring getting hurt is a sickening feeling to me! I do think Larry head to head could Ali all he can handle but I think the Ali laterial movement would off set any of Larrys quality. Ali as a young champ was unbelieveable, theres nothing to compare him to other the Sugar Ray! Except Robinson would have had more power as a Heavyweight!!!
