  • Olympic hopeful boxer jailed for £75k bank raids

The 16-year-old is reportedly one of Britain's best amateur boxers and earmarked for the GB team at the 2012 Olympics, but cannot be named since he was only 15 at the time that he took part in three South London bank raids in Bexleyheath, Sidcup and Redhill.

He teamed up with a string of different adult accomplices, barging into security guards and making off with £25,000 each time before jumping into a BMW getaway car.

Judge Peter Moss sentenced the emotionless teenager to 12 months as he described the robberies as " rapid, violent and frightening".

The judge also considered lifting the usual anonymity granted to under-16s due to the offender's likely future Olympian status and refusal to name his accomplices.
