THE debacle of Filipino fighters in Thailand continues.
Philippine flyweight king Federico Catubay and Along Dinoy came back home empty handed after losing in separate World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia Pacific championships bouts on Friday at the Phraya Pichai Memorial Stadium in Uttaradith, Thailand.
Catubay suffered a 7th round technical knockout setback to WBO top ranked contender Pramuansak Posuwan in their super flyweight championship.
It was a back-to-back loss of the Cebu-based native of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte after his 3rd round TKO loss to Hussein Hussein for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight crown last Feb. 6 at Panthers World of Entertainment in Penrith, NSW, Australia.
Dinoy unfortunately took a technical decision defeat in round six against another WBO No. 1 ranked Kaichon Sor Vorapin in their light flyweight title bout.
It was the first title defense of Vorapin since he won the vacant 108-pound diadem with a sixth round knockout of former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) minimumweight boss Rocky Fuentes in October of last year, also in Uttaradith.
While the victory was Posuwan’s 16th defense overall and 8th against Filipinos since the 36-year old undefeated champion captured the vacant belt via 8th round stoppage win over another Pinoy, Julius Agcopra, in January 2001.
