Mohammed Faisal aka Fes Batista (who is half Indian), made history earlier his year when he became the first Indian boxer to fight professionally in America. He won his bout by outpointing Law Purifoy on one of his promoter Roy Jones' undercards in March.
Batista, who will be forever linked to pop star Lady Gaga, had big plans for the upcoming months but will now have to put those plans on hold.
"I broke my foot. They said I'll be out for up to one year without hard training. It is a sad situation but everything happens for a reason. I guess God wants me to focus on all the other projects that me and my boss Roy Jones Jr. are working on. I am in good spirits though," Batista told BoxingScene.com.
Batista is a goodwill ambassador for the WBC and will continue to work with them as he rehabs his foot.
