Puerto Rican boxing icon Felix "Tito" Trinidad has praised super featherweight prospect Felix Verdejo (3-0, 2KOs). Trinidad sat ringside Saturday night at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Verdejo picked up a third round technical knockout of Jose Santiago. Last year the 19-year-old Olympian signed a very lucrative contract with Top Rank, who built the career of Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto.
"The Pride of Cupey Alto" was present at the Night of Champions billboard DirecTV on Saturday and observed firsthand the debut of whom many believe will succeed the local boxing, Felix "Diamond" Verdejo.
"I saw him, he is a boy with great potential. I heard he's well disciplined, and he has good size, with good power, and he has a good coach and a good team. Boxing is not easy, but we know he has the potential, dedication, the ability to become champion. They know it and take him to do his work inside and outside the gym," Verdejo said to Marcos Ortiz.
