Puerto Rican boxing legend Felix "Tito" Trinidad is optimistic about the future of Puerto Rican boxing. Currently, the country has only one world champion in Roman "Rocky" Martinez, the WBO super featherweight beltholder. Superstars like Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Lopez are nearing the end of their careers, and several top prospects like Thomas Dulorme, Orlando Del Valle and Jonathan Gonzalez have failed to reach their potential.

Trinidad feels there are enough talented fighters coming up to put Puerto Rican boxing back on the map.

"The future is with Dulorme, Jonathan "Bomba" Gonzalez and Jose "Chelo" González, McWilliams and McJoe Arroyo and [Felix] Verdejo. There are countless fighters who are coming up, almost all of them are undefeated. Juanma still has several very good matches out there for him, economically and as a boxer. [Cotto] will do the fights that he wants to do. He is his own promoter and he decides what he wants to do. I wish him well and hope he continues forward," Trinidad told Michelle Rivera.
