Fanlong Meng To Go Pro, Inks With Dino Duva

New York — Chinese light heavyweight amateur star Fanlong Meng has signed with Dynasty Boxing to fight professionally, President Dino Duva announced today.

“Fanlong is one of the best boxers in China,” said Duva. “I’ve had the honor and pleasure of knowing him for five years.  He is a terrific boxer-puncher and will fight professionally in a very hot weight class. I believe he has as much pro potential as any boxer in China and I’m extremely excited about his signing.”
In addition, Meng’s coach from Inner Mongolia, Ma Jingwei, has signed an exclusive training and recruiting contract with Dynasty Boxing. “Coach Ma is one of the best and most knowledgeable boxing coaches in China,” said Duva. “His signing strengthens our ability to sign the best boxers from China for years to come.”
The prominent boxing promoter Duva announced the launch of Dynasty Boxing on March 10. The brothers Tommy and Terry Lane – sons of Hall of Fame referee Mills Lane – are partners in the enterprise.

Details of Fanlong Meng’s professional debut will be announced shortly.

For seven consecutive years – from 2008 to 2013 – Fanlong was the Chinese National Champion. He represented the Chinese at the 2012 London Olympics, losing in the quarterfinal round on a 17-17 split decision to eventual bronze medal winner Yamaguchi Falcoa of Brazil.
Meng started boxing as a teenager, first entering the ring at age 14. “I’ve loved boxing all my life,” said Meng whose favorite fighter growing up was Roy Jones Jr.
Meng obviously has learned his craft quite well as evidenced by his nine Chinese national championships and gold medals at the Chinese National Games.
Meng says “my greatest strengths are that I’m flexible and that I’m a good counter-puncher."

“I decided to turn pro because it’s a new area and  want to develop up to my potential,” added Meng.  “I have complete confidence that my team, led by Dino Duva, will help me to achieve my goal as a professional…to win a world championship.”
Said Coach Ma: “I am very happy to be in this position.  I hope to learn more about professional boxing from Dino Duva and his team so I can contribute to the future development of Chinese professional boxing. I believe that many hands make light work ”
Meng was born in Hala Daokou County in Chi Feng City, Inner Mongolia, where he will live when his is not training and competing in the United States.
“Professional American training is more vigorous than amateur Chinese training,” said Meng who looks forward to the adjustment and challenge. “I will train with passion and enthusiasm. High intensity training is not a problem for a young man like me. I know that I can make my goals a reality.”
Meng and Ma have arrived in New Jersey at the Dynasty training camp, and will be joining his teammate Zhang “Big Bang” Zhilei to train and box as a professional. Other future starts will also be joining them in the near future. Super heavyweight Zhang started his career off with a “Bang” on Aug 8, with a first round knockout of Curtis Tate on ESPN2.
