Frank Espinoza is one of the leading managers in the sport of boxing. His best known client, WBO featherweight titlist, Oscar Valdez, is preparing for his March 10th showdown versus Scott Quigg at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, that will be broadcast on ESPN.
But the rest of his deep and talented roster of boxers also have fights scheduled to begin their campaign for the new year.
"I'm excited about 2018, we have a couple of young prospects that are going to be kicking things off on March 22nd," said Espinoza, who works with a variety of promotional companies. "Joet Gonzalez will be fighting at Fantasy Springs, also on that card is Emilio Sanchez."
The 24-year old Gonzalez, is a featherweight hopeful with a record of 18-0 (10 KO's), while Sanchez (who is 23) is a fellow featherweight with a mark of 15-0(10 KO's).
Espinoza, added that for this Golden Boy Promotions show, "Raul Curiel (2-0, 1KO) our Mexican Olympian will be on that card, too."
"March 17th, Joselito Velasquez (5-0, 5KO's) will probably fight in Guadalajara, Mexico,"added Espinoza, of the two-time Mexican Olympian, who has begun his career as a flyweight and is now handled by Zanfer Promotions.
As for WBO 122-pound champion, Jesse Magdaleno, who is slated to face Isaac Dogboe in a mandatory defense.
"He was tentatively set for March, unfortunately now he's going to be set for some time in April," explained Espinoza. ''I should have a better idea after I speak to Top Rank. They told me they're going to get back to me with some dates in April."
Magdaleno is currently in Mexico training alongside Valdez, where a training camp has been set up for most of Espinoza's boxers.
"I think we're going to see a stellar performance from Oscar Valdez on the night of March 10th against Scott Quigg,"said Espinoza.
