Two-time world champion Errol 'The Truth' Spence Jr. promised the fans that the expected battle with his division rival, Terence 'Bud' Crawford, will happen at the tail-end of 2020 or will happen next year in 2021, since both understand that it will be one of the greatest battles in the history of the welterweight division.

Spence, 30-years-old, 26-0 with 21 knockouts, has not been in the ring since he beat compatriot Shawn 'Showtime' Porter last September, when he unified the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight titles before thousands of fans at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Spence had at one point been slated to fight in early 2020, likely against Danny Garcia, but the fight was derailed after Spence was involved in a car accident and suffered injuries.

Crawford, 32-years-old, is 36-0 with 27 knockouts, and is considered by many to be the best pound for pound in the world, alongside Canelo Alvarez and Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Terence is the current world champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and has not climbed in the ring since December of last year, when he defeated Egidijus Kavaliauskas by TKO.

"[That fight can happen] whenever, this year or next. We are going to fight. If we do not fight this year, it will definitely be next year," Spence said to FightHype.com.

Because it's taken months for Spence to recover from the car accident, and now the ongoing coronavirus pandemic may delay his ring return to a far later date - as nearly all boxing events in March, April and early May have been canceled.

They potential options for his return include Danny García and WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who was initially slated to fight on a date in July.

As far as the betting lines go, Spence opened up as a slight favorite with a -130 line, while Terence is with +110. The winner would undoubtedly be considered the best in the division.

Spence is with Premier Boxing Champions, who are aligned with Fox Sports and Showtime. Crawford is promoted by Top Rank, who have a content deal with ESPN. PBC and Top Rank, along with Fox Sports and ESPN, recently came together to stage joint pay-per-view event last month with Tyson Fury stopping Deontay Wilder.
