Erkan Teper-Robert Helenius on 12/19, Hartwall Arena

By Per Ake Persson

This fight was officially announced in Finland earlier today and is headline news in the sports pages:

EBU heavyweight champion Erkan Teper (15-0) will defend the title on December 19 at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki (Finland) against the Nordic Nightmare, Robert Helenius (21-0). The fight is promoted by Loud ´n` Live Promotions. At stake is also Teper´s IBF I/C title.

This is a voluntary defence by Teper and mandatory challenger is Dereck Chisora so should Helenius win over Teper he´s back to where all the troubles started late 2011. He beat Chisora on a close, controversial decision and suffered serious hand- and shoulder injuries that also led to a contractual dispute with Sauerland Event.

Teper, promoted by Z! Promotions, knocked out David Price in July to win the then vacant title.

Helenius' undefeated record is somewhat misleading, to be fair.

Wanna see Helenius get the W. Years ago he was on track to be a top player in the division

I've got Teper. Was never too high on Helenius. As for Chisora I respect him. I also thought he was robbed against Helenius a bit. He'll never be a champ (he'd have a shot against Wilder but that isn't likely…

This is a nice fight that will launch the winner into a good spot. The hw division seems to be making some good matchups lately. No bs politics like the other divisions.
