BoxingScene.com was advised that a light heavyweight bout is in the works for the ESPN televised card on July 29th at the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Former lightweight champion Juan Diaz was scheduled to headline the card, but he withdrew a few days ago to focus on his legal studies.

Discussions are ongoing, and looking good, for a light heavyweight clash between Edison Miranda (34-5, 29KOs) and Yordanis Despaigne (8-1, 4KOs). Miranda broke his one-year layoff by returning on the Atlantic City undercard to last Saturday's bout between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson. He won an eight round decision over Rayco Sanders. Despaigne was last seen in March, when he dropped a gusty ten round decision to rising star Ismayl Sillakh.

Former champion Joel Casamayor is scheduled for the show in crossroads bout with Jorge Teron.
