Dzinziruk-Konecny Pending, Lauri-Shafikov on 9/15

By Per Ake Persson

WBO junior middleweight champ Sergey Dzinziruk might defend the title against mandatory challenger Lukas Konecny, the reigning EBU champ and a close, majority decision loser to Dzinziruk the first time they fought. The tentative date is September 30 in Brno, Czech Republic. The fight has not been officially announced and contracts are not signed. The first fight between these two was a rather controversial affair - in and out of the ropes - with I believe three postponements before they actually got in the ring.

The oft postponed and once cancelled fight between jr welterweights Giuseppe Lauri and Denis "Djingis Khan" Shafikov for the vacant EBU title appears to be headed for Helsinki on September 15. Also on this P 3 Boxing show is a battle for the vacant EU cruiser crown between Juho Haapoja and Frenchman Faisal Ibnal Arrami. Lauri vs Shafikov was first set for Italy but after a few postponements OPI 2000 cancelled the show and P 3 Boxing took over. This date is not confirmed by P 3 Boxing but it is what they have communicated to the EBU.
