WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has heaped words of praise on rising contender Daniel Dubois.

Fury watched Dubois demolish overmatched Ricardo Snijders in two rounds at the BT Sport studios. The victory raised Dubois' record to 15-0 with 14 knockouts.

Dubois showered his foe with power shots to the head and body. He dropped Snijders four times before the contest was waved off by the referee.

Dubois is now heading in the direction of a high-stakes showdown with fellow unbeaten Joe Joyce, a dangerous puncher who won an Olympic silver medal at the 2016 games.

Fury compared Dubois to Ivan Drago, the dangerous power punching villain from the Rocky movie franchise.

Dubois is not that familiar with the Drago character, but he appreciates the kind words from the man who many regard as the current top dog of the heavyweight division.

At the same time, receiving high praise from Fury or anyone else is not a confidence booster to the young 22-year-old fighter.

“I don’t know who Ivan Drago is,” Dubois told Mirror Sport. “But, yeah, it’s nice when someone like Tyson Fury praises you.

“He’s at the top of the tree, the No 1 in the division, so that’s good. He’s someone I like as a fighter. He beat the man in Wladimir Klitschko to become world champion the first time and then he beat Deontay Wilder to do it again.

“It was the way he beat Wilder the second time and he beat him at his own game. He showed he can win fights any way. It doesn’t boost me, though. I don’t need people to say nice things about me to boost my confidence. I’m confident in my ability and what I can achieve if I continue to work hard and listen to those around me.”
