Last November at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Jessie Magdaleno (24-0, 17KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Nonito Donaire (37-4, 24KOs) to capture the WBO super bantamweight championship.

The three official judges had him well ahead, with scores of 116-112, 116-112, 118-110.  Their fight was part of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas pay-per-view, which Top Rank distributed on their own.

Because Magdaleno was the mandatory challenger, there was no rematch clause in place.

After the fight was over, Donaire expressed his disappointment with the scoring. Donaire believed he was well ahead on the cards and questioned how the judges could have scored it for Magdaleno.

He pressed their mutual promoter, Top Rank, to make the rematch.

The Filipino Flash revealed on Wednesday that Magdaleno has no interest in facing him again, at least for now.

"I give MAJOR respect and props to those fighters who are willing to put a title freshly won right back on the line in a rematch for the greatness of boxing. Those like Santa Cruz-Frampton and Pacquiao-Marquez, Marquez-Vasquez, even Bradley-Pacquiao. [They] could have walked away with the title and fought easier opponents but they all wanted to prove their greatness," Donaire stated.

"After sitting with Todd Duboef and Top Rank lawyer Harrison and asking for the rematch against Magdaleno, I received a call from them stating what Todd, Harrison, Cameron and I all knew in the prior meeting - that Magdaleno and his team would rather choose someone else than fight me again. Fighting me would give Magdaleno the biggest payday at 122, especially with us both under Top Rank banner and he says he'd beat me easier in a rematch... so why not you ask?

"I have constantly tried to create a legacy of my own. Through wins and losses I have tried to give my fans the best fights but I have to have a willing opponent who doesn't run from the opportunity to create great fights, fights worth watching."
