Dmitry Kudryashov Says MMA Debut is Likely For October 12

Russian cruiserweight puncher Dmitry Kudryashov says his debut in mixed martial arts (MMA) will likely take place on a card taking place on October 12 in Moscow.

He cautions that in general his in-ring career will be connected with boxing.

In a professional boxing ring, the former WBC Silver champion at cruiserweight, has a record of 23 victories with three defeats. In his last fight in June in Yekaterinburg, the Russian puncher was stopped in five rounds by Ilunga Makabu from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

One of his ambitions, beyond MMA, is to get a rematch with Makabu.

“Most likely I will fight, in a contest according to the rules of MMA, at the Fight Nights card in Moscow on October 12. As for my boxing career, we talked with (General Secretary of the Boxing Federation of Russia) Umar Kremlev about a rematch with Ilunga Makabu. And there is interest in such a scenario," said Kudryashov on the phone with Vasily Konov.

“I’ll try,” Kudryashov answered the question about the short time to prepare for the fight according to the rules of MMA.

“At the same time, I note that in no case can we say that Dmitry Kudryashov is finished with boxing and is heading off to MMA. I have other places to go in boxing. There is ambition, so I'm staying in boxing."
