Diego Chaves To Return To Action on November 18, Argentina

By Ben Jacobs

Diego Cháves (24-2-1, 20 KOs), who has fought only once since his December 2014 draw with Timothy Bradley will be back in the ring on November 18 in his native Argentina.

Cháves fought in July in a non-televised bout, also in Argentina, claiming a technical knockout victory over Jorge Daniel Miranda.

This time he takes on Luis Pablo Zárate (21-3, 12 KOs) in Quilmes, Buenos Aires.

It has been documented that the reason behind Cháves’ absence from the international welterweight scene has been due to a dispute with his promoter in Argentina.  It would seem that those issues have still not been resolved based on his Facebook posts, nevertheless he is able to remain active at least in his homeland.

‘La Joya’ had been due to challenge Kell Brook last year for his IBF world title but the contest fell through due to an injury to the Sheffield man. The fight was never rescheduled with Brook deciding to go in another direction.

Having proved himself highly competitive against the aforementioned Bradley, as well as the likes of Keith Thurman and Brandon Ríos, Cháves will be hoping that 2017 signifies a change in fortune for his career.
