Promoter Eddie Hearn has received word from Golden Boy Promotions that IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander has injured his bicep in training camp and withdrew from the scheduled fight with mandatory challenger Kell Brook. The Showtime televised fight was set for February 23rd in Detroit, Michigan.
"We received news from Golden Boy that Devon Alexander has pulled out of the fight due to a bicep injury. We will have a new date asap," indicated Hearn.
The event also has a world title defense by IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage, facing challenger Ishe Smith. Now word yet if that fight will move as scheduled or get postponed as well to the new date.
