Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has no doubt that his business partner, IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins, will avoid being bullied in the ring by one of the most deadliest punchers in boxing, WBO champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs).
They are set to collide in an HBO televised unification on November 8th from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
De La Hoya recently spent some time in Hopkins' training camp, and says the 49-year-old veteran is in great shape and very, very focused to shock the critics next Saturday night.
"I just cannot see...with Kovalev, people talk about his power, people talk about how big he is and strong. I just cannot see him pushing Hopkins around. Hopkins looks solid, this guy is like a rock. He looks great, but what really stands out is the focus that he has, the focus that he has maintained all of these years. He hasn't lost a step," De La Hoya said to BoxingScene.com.
