David Diaz Decisions Ramon Montano Over Ten

By Mark Vester

On the undercard to the Juan Manuel Marquez-Manny Pacquiao rematch at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz (34-1-1)  won a hard fought ten-round decision over Ramon Montano (14-4-2).

After Montano got off to a decent start, Diaz began to outpunch and outhustle his opponent to win the majority of the rounds. The bout was contested a few pounds above the lightweight limit, which made it a non-title bout.

The scores were 95-95 for the draw, 99-91 and 97-93 to Diaz.
