Daniel Dubois Blasts Out DL Jones in Three Rounds

By Chris Glover

York Hall, London - For the Southern Area Heavyweight title, Daniel Dubois 7-0 (7KOs) continued his streak of knockouts with a third round stoppage of previously undefeated DL Jones 8-1-1.

The second Heavyweight title contest of the evening began with the challenger attempting to stay tight, and smother the champion Dubois. Dubois took the round based on his jab and cleaner work.

Jones looked to spoil and land one big shot throughout unlike Dubois who looked to land combinations, working well off his jab when he has the range.

Jones started to tire and Dubois came on strong in round three, landing good uppercuts on the inside when Jones attempted to spoil. When Dubois found his range he let go multiple heavy handed combinations, landing some massive right hands.

Referee Bob Williams jumped in to stop the contest after 2.23 of round number three as DL Jones slumped to the canvas after taking a barrage of massive hooks and uppercuts to the head from 'Dynamite' Daniel Dubois.

The referees call was correct and Daniel Dubois will look to build on this successful Southern Area Heavyweight title defence.

In other action, heavyweight prospect Nathan Gorman 12-0 (10KOs) continued his winning run with a knockout of overmatched Morgan Dessaux 4-2 (4KOs).

Gorman was the visibly bigger man, and looked to walk down his French counterpart in the opener with great success. Dessaux come out swinging put was put down from a barrage of shots from Gorman.

Gorman applied the pressure from the offset in round two, and after another barrage of heavy shots to the head from Gorman with little coming back, referee Steve Gray decided to bring a halt to the contest after 1.08 seconds.

Central Area Champion Nathan Gorman will now look to step up back to title level next time out.

Nice to see him active! He should step up in competition gradually, one step at a time.
