Damien Vasquez Tops Card on February 6th, Colorado

By Chris Morris/RockyMountainBoxing.com

Jeff Cisneros and his Sparta Combat League are gearing up for their sophomore effort on the boxing side, with another ‘marathon’ type of fight card, set for February 6th in Greeley, Colorado. The main event will see Damien ‘Sugar’ Vasquez back in action in Colorado and the return of one of Colorado’s favorite sons, heavyweight Kenny ‘Sagrado Warrior’ Lemos in a 6 rounder.

Damien ‘Sugar’ Vasquez, 8-0, 3KOs, made his professional debut at the tender age of 16. He is cornered by ring legend and former world champion Richie Sandoval and Miguel Diaz. He is handled by his father Faustino, who managed the careers of four world champions including his other son, Israel and Cruz Carbajal. He will take on trial horse, Lorenzo Trejo, 35-31-1, 22KOs, in a six round bout at bantamweight. Trejo was 2-2 in 2015, knocking two opponents out before being knocked out himself in his past two bouts.

The co main will see the return of Kenny ‘Sagrado Warrior’ Lemos, 13-9-2, 9KOs to the ring. This guy has retired more times than Roy Jones Jr. He ‘called it a career’ after his bout with James Toney and again after a loss to undefeated prospect, Andy Ruiz, only to come back and fight Hugo Arceo last year, a bout he won by knockout. He will be taking on New Mexico’s Ronald Baca, 5-2-1, 2KOs, who was last seen in action in Colorado on a New Generation Promotions card in Jesse Smith, a bout he won by knockout. This one will be a 6er.

There will be another 1 or 2 bouts added to the card. Rumored A siders include Manuel ‘Manny-Lo’ Lopez, Alma Garcia and Ricky Rodriguez who is from Greeley.

From the amateur side there are many match ups in the works, but, these are the one’s that have been agreed to at this point.

Mario Sierra VS Miseal Lopez 125
Trevor Massey vs Ben Lugo 147lb Title Fight
Vickie Keller vs Stacy Vega 115lb Title Fight
Dominic Plascencia vs ZJ Porier 152lb Title Fight

The fight card will be held at the Island Grove Center with the doors opening at six and the first bell as 7pm. For more information and tickets please contact Jeff Cisneros at 720-933-6147 or go to Sparta Combat League for more information.
