Former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla (33-6-3, 13 KOs) was a very interested observer this past Saturday night, as he watched Vasiliy Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KOs) secure a tenth round stoppage of Jorge Linares to capture the WBA world title at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Linares holds two decision wins over Crolla.

Croll has won two in a row, including a decision over former champion Ricky Burns in October 2017.

Lomachenko, a former two time gold medal winner, became a three division champion after previously capturing titles at featherweight and super featherweight.

The Ukrainian boxer is scheduled to return on August 25th at The Forum in Los Angeles, and the likely opponent will be WBO champion Ray Beltran.

While Crolla is realistic and admits there is absolutely no demand in the United States for a fight between him and Lomachenko - he believes the contest is possible on UK soil after Loma expressed interest in fighting overseas for the British fans.

"That was a brilliant fight between two unbelievable craftsmen, they both showed so much skill and ability in there - I loved it. Jorge has beat me twice so I can't say I want to fight the man who beat the man who beat me. I'm not saying that at all," Crolla told Sky Sports.

"All I would say is that Lomachenko is an unbelievable fighter, a future all-time great, and you always want to share the ring with the best of your generation.

"I'd love to try my luck against him. He has openly said he wants to fight in the UK so, in that sense, you'd say it would either be against myself or Campbell.

"I'm by no means saying I deserve a shot, but if he wants to fight in England, I could be the man. I know there's no chance of it in USA."
