Craig Evans retained his WBO European belt with a unanimous decision victory over Stephen Ormond.

The Welshman travelled to Belfast to face the Dubliner, exclusively live on BoxNation.

Evans won the belt with a victory over Thomas Stalker last November and he comprehensively beat 34-year-old Ormond at the Waterfront Hall.

The fight took place on the undercard of Paddy Barnes vs. Silvio Olteanu for the vacant WBO European flyweight title, but it was a scrappy affair in which referee Phil Edwards had plenty to do.

At the end of the 10 rounds, with the flagging Ormond being dropped twice in the final round, the three scoring judges gave the fight to Evans by margins of 97-91, 99-89 and 96-93.

For former title holder Ormond, it could well have been last chance saloon, but Evans can now push on to the next level having enhanced his record as well as his ranking with the Boxing Organisation.

Meanwhile, Steven Ward added to his undefeated record with consummate ease. The Manchester-based Ulsterman, 27, made it four from four with his first stoppage after the referee pulled the vastly overmatched Istvan Orsos out at the end of the fourth round.
