Marcel Braithwaite has finally been given a title opportunity.
The talented super-flyweight will take on Craig Derbyshire next month.
Braithwaite, who got back to winning ways in May to rebound from his sole defeat as a pro to date suffered last September, is set for action at the Bonus Arena in Hull.
The fight, which will top a bill promoted by Steve Wood for VIP Boxing, will be for the aforementioned Derbyshire’s English title at eight-stone three and will be screened exclusively live on VIP Boxing TV.
Derbyshire, for what it’s worth, is a former Central Area champion at bantamweight and won the English title with an unanimous decision over Nathan Reeve in Northampton. He has a record of 7-27-3 with two quick finishes.
The undercard will feature a whole host of local talent, including Sonny Taylor and Lewis Sylvester.
Connor Coghill, who scored a 40-36 points victory on the undercard of fellow Hull man Luke Campbell’s defeat against Vasyl Lomachenko at the O2 Arena in London last month, exclusively live in the UK on Sky Sports Box Office, and Carl Chadwick –– beaten by Liverpool’s Jay Carney back in February 2017 –– are also on the bill, with further additions to be revealed in due course.
