BoxingScene.com has been advised that WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (37-3-2) has pulled out of his title defense versus Ryan Coyne (16-0). The fight was slated to take place on June 25th in St. Charles, MO. as a supporting fight to the Devon Alexander-Lucas Matthysse main event.

Coyne's business advisor Mike Garrett said that although his fighter is disappointed that he won't be fighting for the WBA title, he will still be on the card.

"Ryan trained very hard for this fight and is very disappointed that his shot at a title will be delayed.  Ryan sold a lot of tickets for this fight and we are happy that he is still on the card.  The fans have supported Ryan and will be out in full force come Saturday.  We thank them for their support and look forward to a great fight versus this undefeated opponent," said Garrett.

Coyne will now face Dave McNemar (13-0), of West Virginia and will defend his WBC USNBC title.

Garrett hopes that Jones makes a speedy recovery so that Coyne can meet Jones in the ring later this year.

"We hope Jones recovers soon.  Guillermo signed a contract to fight Ryan and I am hopeful he will honor his commitment as soon as he is able to resume training."
