Cotto Tabs 155 as Weight For Canelo, Open To Location

By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) has no problem with facing Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

For Saturday's fight with Daniel Geale, Cotto weighed 153.6-pounds - which is under the junior middleweight limit of 154. Cotto dominated the action and stopped Geale in four rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Canelo has fought his last three bouts at 155-pounds.

"If he's been fighting at 155 for his last three fights. I've been fighting at 159 [as the contract weight] for [Sergio] Martinez [and] my weight [for that fight] was 155. I was fighting at 157 for Daniel Geale and my weight was 153.6. We can make it at 155 [for Canelo], no problem," Cotto said.

Regarding the location, Cotto's second home is on the East Coast - preferably New York - where his Puerto Rican fan base is extremely strong. Canelo's Mexican fan base is very strong on the West Coast - preferable in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Cotto has no problem with exploring the options regarding the location.

"No matter where the fight happens, I'll be ready for him," Cotto said.
