Former champion Celestino Caballero (34-3, 23KOs) is going to push for a shot at "regular" WBA featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros (31-1, 18KOs) of Argentina. Caballero is trying to regroup after losing a shock decision to Jason Litzau in a super featherweight contest that was held in November 2011. Barros captured the title in December by beating Irving Berry. His only loss was to Yuriorkis Gamboa by decision.
Barros will be allowed a voluntary defense in his first outing. The next bout will have to be a mandatory shot. Caballero's attorney, Rogelio Espino, says they are going to push for that shot.
"Once the Argentine boxer has made his first defense, we will immediately request the fight for Caballero. For now, those are the plans we have Caballero's future," said Espino.
