Celestino Caballero To Push For Jonathan Barros Shot

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Former champion Celestino Caballero (34-3, 23KOs) is going to push for a shot at "regular" WBA featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros (31-1, 18KOs) of Argentina. Caballero is trying to regroup after losing a shock decision to Jason Litzau in a super featherweight contest that was held in November 2011. Barros captured the title in December by beating Irving Berry. His only loss was to Yuriorkis Gamboa by decision.

Barros will be allowed a voluntary defense in his first outing. The next bout will have to be a mandatory shot. Caballero's attorney, Rogelio Espino, says they are going to push for that shot.

"Once the Argentine boxer has made his first defense, we will immediately request the fight for Caballero. For now, those are the plans we have Caballero's future," said Espino.

[QUOTE=Stones!;9901311]That is not the point, mate. It doesn't matter if you believe Caballero would win, or Juanma would win - the fact is Caballero was the main man in the same division as Juanma for a long time, with two…

[QUOTE=figzuki;9901256]C'mon why can't people just be realistic and just realize that Juanma would **** this fool up so bad he'll retire. Put Jason Litzau in the ring with Juanma and see what happens, and don't give me none of that…

[QUOTE=Stones!;9901219]Are you claiming that certain "champs" have not "ducked" Caballero? Don't be a fool - it is a well known fact that Juan Maricon Lopez ducked Caballero - it is set in stone so you can go cry about it…

[QUOTE=vrodz;9900794]I guess another champ will soon "duck" caballero. Dude should stop calling out people and work on regrouping for a few fights and go from there. I have always said that caba was an overrqted fighter and he did not…
