Carlos Takam vs. Marcin Rekowski in Play For Macao, January 29

By Per Ake Persson

It´s not a done deal, contracts are not signed and it´s not official yet - but heavyweights Carlos Takam (23-3-1) and Marcin Rekowski (18-4) could be on for Macao on January 29.

Takam was previously all set to fight Johan Duhaupas on January 28 but then the Frenchman accepted a fight on very late notice against Alexander Povetkin and was knocked out.

Takam lost to Joseph Parker by close decision in his only fight during 2016. Rekowski lost his two fights last year but beat Artsiom Hurbo last weekend.

Light heavyweight Avni "Mr Robot" Yildirim (14-0) defends the WBC International Silver title on February 18 at the Teatre Principe in Milano (Italy) against Aliksandr Sushchyts (21-3-1) from Belorus on a OPI since 82 and Arena co-promotion.

Yildirim won the title by stopping Schiller Hyppolite late last year and this is his first defence. The 25-year old Turk also holds wins over the likes of Glen Johnson and Bernard Donfack.

Welterweight MaximProdan (8-0) and super featherweight GiuseppeCarafa (7-0-1) are featured on the undercard.

Danish super middleweight Patrick Nielsen has parted ways with trainer Joey Gamache just eleven days before his fight in Struer January 21. No reason is given in the press release from Sauerland Promotion. Nielsen´s younger brother Micki has also parted ways with Gamache.

Patrick Nielsen will now be trained by his former amateur coach Gutte Loiborg. Nielsen face Colombian Beibi Berrocal in Struer in his first fight for over a year.

Hopefully it happens, would be a good bounce back win for Takam. He's still one of the better HW's out there and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a rematch with Parker
