Canelo-Lara PPV: John Karl Sosa is Added To The Card

Undefeated John Karl Sosa will join his Puerto Rican countrymen Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez and Jonathan Oquendo on Saturday, July 12, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada - as part of the undercard to the Showtime Pay-Per-View which features the junior middleweight main event between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez of Mexico and Erislandy Lara of Cuba. 

Sosa (10-0, 6 KOs), a native of Caguas, will have his third fight of 2014 when he takes on Mexico's Luis Bello (5-1, 2 KOs) in a six round clash at 142 pounds. The young 21-year Puerto Rican is coming off two wins by unanimous decision on the 15th of March and the 28th of April over Antonio Sánchez and Víctor Pérez, respectively.
 
"John Karl was going to fight on the undercard on June 19 in Bayamon, but he caught a virus and lost a few days of training, so he could not see action. He already recovered, he is training and got the opportunity to fight in Las Vegas on a big stage and a big card," said Peter Rivera, vice president of PR Best Boxing Promotions, a company that represents Sosa.

Lopez (34-3, 31 KOs), a former super bantamweight champion and featherweight champion, will go against Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (19-0-1, 13 KOs), while Jonathan Oquendo (24-3, 16 KOs) will face former three-time world champion Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14 KOs).
