Canelo-Angulo: Francisco Vargas To Return on The Card

By Jose Luis Camarillo, notifight.com

Unbeaten Mexican Olympian Francisco "Bandido" Vargas said that "he would like to challenge for a world title by the end of 2014." Vargas (18-0-1, 13 KOs) will reappear on March 8th at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, as part of the undercard to the junior middleweight battle between Guadalajara's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Mexicali's Alfredo "Perro" Angulo.

Vargas says the opponent being discussed with him is Puerto Rico's Abner Cotto.

"I was told it would be against the Puerto Rican Abner Cotto, where I'll defend my belts - the NABF super featherweight and World Boxing Organization Intercontinental. Cotto is a fighter with good technique, fast, but I about having a smart fight. He's going to get tired, he'll stop moving around and that's when I'll hit him hard," Vargas said.

Vargas is definitely one of my favorite prospects, so it's nice to see him again so soon. Cotto folded against Figueroa, and I think he'll do the same against Vargas.
