Calderon's Team Like The Idea of a Viloria Clash

By Mark Vester

Last Saturday night, Top Rank's Bob Arum said that he was very interested in matching two of his fighters, WBO junior flyweight champion Ivan Calderon, and IBF champion Brian Viloria, in a unification bout. Viloria recently upset longtime champion Ulises "Archie" Solis with an eleven round knockout to capture the title.

Peter Rivera, co-owner of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, Calderon's co-promoter, says that his fighter would love a fight with Viloria. The two of then fought many years ago in the amateurs, and Calderon won. At the present Calderon's people are in talks for a fight with WBA interim-champ Giovanni Segura for May 23 but see Viloria as a much bigger fight.

"We would love a fight between Calderon and Viloria. Giovanni Segura is one of the alternatives, but Viloria is more attractive, because Calderon and Viloria fought as amateurs and Calderon won. A fight between Calderon and Viloria would be tremendous," Rivera told Primera Hora.

[QUOTE=gerardofpr;5115775]That fight doesn't sell millions so its unlikely he'll get that offering, that's the reason those guys hardly make a buck and why they don't unify. As far as Calderon, he looked like he lost a step at the Cazares…
