BoxingScene.com was informed by very reliable sources that HBO is pushing for a meeting between IBF super middleweight champion  Lucian Bute and current WBO/WBC middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik. Bute was very impressive in Saturday's rematch knockout of Librado Andrade. Prior to the second Andrade win, HBO had already planned to discuss future fights with Bute's team. Considering Saturday's result and Bute's star power, HBO will make a serious play to prevent him from jumping back to Showtime.

HBO would love to match Bute with an incoming Pavlik. The Youngstown native has a fight scheduled for December 12 against heavy underdog Miguel Espino. Outside of a fight with the Paul Williams-Sergio Martinez winner, the "big money" options at 160-pounds are non-existent. And because the majority of the "name fighters" at 168 are locked in with Showtime's Super Six tournament, Bute vs. Pavlik is one of the bigger fights the network can put together at the weight.
