Bundrage-Hernandez Targeted For Fantasy Springs, 1/24

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised that Golden Boy Promotions is looking to stage the IBF's final junior middleweight eliminator, between Cornelius "K9" Bundrade (32-5, 19KOs) and Joey "Twinkle Fingers" Hernandez (23-1-1, 13KOs), on January 24th at Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino in Indio, California.

Bundradge lost the IBF title to Ishe Smith by way of a twelve round majority decision in February, but then Smith lost the belt to Carlos Molina on the Mayweather-Canelo undercard on September 14th. Hernandez, who recently broke away from promoter Don King, has been inactive since last November's decision win over James Winchester. Hernandez, now advised by Luis DeCubas Jr., is still a promotional free agent.

A few weeks ago, Ramiro Gonzalez, on behalf of Golden Boy Promotions, secured the rights to Bundrage-Hernandez after winning the IBF's purse bid with a minor sum of $11,000.
