Buboy Warns Matthysse: Not The Same Pacquiao, More Monster!

The days are counting down before eight division champion Manny Pacquiao steps in the ring to challenge WBA "regular" welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse in Malaysia.

The two fighters will collide before a packed crowd at the Axiata Arena.

Pacquiao is coming off a twelve round unanimous decision loss to Jeff Horn, which took place in July of 2017.

This will be Pacquiao's first bout in 16 years, without head trainer Freddie Roach.

The boxer's best friend and assistant trainer, Buboy Fernandez, is the lead coach for Pacquiao's training camp.

According to Fernandez, this time everyone will see a brand new Pacquiao - meaner and fired up by the numerous statements from experts who believe the Filipino superstar is way past his prime.

"You wait for the return of the Storm from the Pacific. If Superstorm Maria did not enter the Philippines, this one will," Buboy told Rappler.

“We will see [if Matthysse can back up his words]. He shouldn't be too cocky, because he'll see a different Manny Pacquiao. More monster.”

According to Fernandez, Pacquiao hit his peak form last week and weighed in at 145 pounds after eating breakfast Tuesday morning.

He says Pacquiao will likely weigh 146 pounds at the official weigh-in, and a bit bigger by the time they step in the ring.

Buyboy hopes Matthysse will come after them with both hands swinging.

“I want him [Matthysse] to initiate action,” said Fernandez, “then we'll counter.”

Pacquiao arrived to the country with a high level of motivation.

He told local reporters that he's ready to trade punches all night if necessary.

“We are locked and loaded. I am more than ready and excited to show Malaysian fight fans the fruits of hard training and preparation," Pacquiao said. “We had a very great training camp and I cannot wait to fight on Sunday (Saturday in the US)."

Buboy can't train a goat to eat grass. Justine Fortune took over the training and strategy . Besides the pylo program. Pac looks like 39 years old that he should be.
