If the money is right - we might have a fight. According to promoter Gary Shaw, WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21KOs) is more than willing to fight Adrien Broner (24-0, 20KOs) - if the money is right.
On Saturday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland - DeMarco stopped John Molina in 44 seconds of the first round.
Broner was watching from ringside and HBO is very interested in making that fight happen. Broner is scheduled to make his HBO return on November 3rd.
"It's a discussion that I had with HBO this morning. I told them that DeMarco would fight anybody at 135-pounds, including Broner, but they have to make the money right. This is a kid who ate out of the garbage [when he was younger] and now he wants to buy a home for his family," Shaw said.
"If the money is going to be thrown around to unfriendly fan fighters, it's about time that they recognized that DeMarco is a fan friendly fighter and took care of him. The short answer, we'll fight him if the money is right. I honestly believe, and the team believes, that he has the style to beat Broner."
