According to WBA junior welterweight champion Adrien "The Problem" Broner (32-2, 23 KOs), he was contacted by Michael Koncz, the adviser for Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs), to discuss the possibility of a fight in early 2016.

Pacquiao is slated to return to the ring in April. He was scheduled to make an announcement regarding his next opponent two weeks ago, but delayed that decision to a later point in time.

The fighters reportedly at the top of the list to get Pacquiao are WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford. Between the two fighters, the situation changes weekly as to which of them is the actual frontrunner to land the fight.

Broner is a darkhorse and Koncz confirmed in a recent overseas interview that Broner's name was being considered on the possible list of candidates.

Bradley, who faced Pacquiao twice in the past, is still widely viewed as being the man to get the fight.

Broner feels that he's got a good shot if the fight comes together. Pacquiao has been out of the ring since losing a decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May. He suffered a right shoulder injury during the fight and had surgery a few days later.

It's been a 50-50 year for Broner, who suffered a decision loss to Shawn Porter in a catch-weight bout at 144, but then bounced back by capturing his fourth division title with a stoppage win of Khabib Allakhverdiev.

"I love fighting southpaws, man. Just check my record," Broner told BoxingScene.com when asked about the fight."

"He’s a great guy. It would be a hell of a fight A young rising star against an elite Hall of Famer on his way out. I can’t wait to send him home to the Philippines to go be Governor. You can’t put it past nobody. This is boxing. It only takes one shot."
