Multiple sources have advised BoxingScene.com that verbal agreement has been reached
for a showdown between former lightweight champion Brandon Rios (29-0-1) and tough contender John Molina (23-1). The clash between Mexican American brawlers will take place on March 3rd at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California and be televised by HBO.
BoxingScene.com has also been advised that the fight will take place at a catch-weight of 137 pounds.
Rios lost his WBA lightweight title on the scale in his last fight which was a knockout win over John Murray on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Maragrito undercard that took place in New York on December 3rd.
Rios was born in Kansas but currently resides in Oxnard which is about an hour from the Home Depot Center. Molina also lives in Southern California and a big crowd is expected to be on hand for the fight.
Rios looks to face featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa after his fight with Molina. Gamboa will be moving up in weight and may also appear on the card in a co-feature bout.
