The WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders believes UFC star Conor McGregor tapped out 'too easily' after his recent defeat to Nate Diaz.

“Notorious?... He tapped out in three seconds! I think he tapped out a bit too easy,” revealed Saunders.

“I’ve been choked out for longer down the pub!”

McGregor was recently front row at a BoxNation show in November and admitted he could be tempted into a boxing bout at a later date.

“I can’t run him down, he’s earnt loads of money. He’s done very well for himself, if I ever see the man I’d shake his hand. He took defeat well,” continued the 26 year old.

Saunders was speaking to Kugan Cassius at the press conference for his first World Title defence against ‘Mad’ Max Bursak on Saturday 30 April at the Copper Box Arena in London.

“Bursak comes forward, he’s been in with some good names. He is, what he is. If I’m not right, he’ll give me a hard night. If I go in there fit and prepared, it’ll be comfortable. I’m looking to make a statement!” explained the unbeaten slick southpaw.

When quizzed about the upcoming Amir Khan v Canelo Alvarez bout, the WBO King dismissed fighting at a catch weight further down the line.

“How can you have the Middleweight Championship of the World at 155lbs? I’d love to share a ring with Cotto but it’s not going to happen at that weight”
