Billy Dib vs. Guillaume Frenois Eliminator For Gervonta Davis

Last month, the International Boxing Federation ordered a super featherweight eliminator between #3, Billy Dib (42-4, 24 KOs) and #7, Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KOs).

The two sides had until August 14th to reach an agreement, with the winner landing a shot at undefeated world champion Gervonta Davis.

No agreement was needed, as Davis reached a deal to defend his title against Fonseca - as part of the Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard to next Saturday's showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene.com has been advised that the IBF has now ordered a new final eliminator, this time between Dib and  #11 ranked Guillaume Frenois (44-1, 10 KOs) of France. The two boxers are the highest ranked available contenders and the winner will land a crack at the Davis vs. Fonseca winner.

Frenois has won thirteen fights in a row since suffering his first defeat at the hands of Devis Boschiero in 2013.

Dib, a former IBF featherweight champion, has won three in a row since getting knocked out by then WBC champion Takashi Miura in May of 2015.

Dib is now being trained by veteran coach Robert Garcia. They had their first fight together last month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where Robert's younger brother Mikey Garcia defeated Adrien Broner in the main event.

Dib's fight with Yardley Cruz ended early, when a clash of heads in the third round created a cut on Cruz and he said he was unable to continue - which caused a no-contest to be ruled by the New York Commission.

Davis captured the world title earlier this year, when he knocked out undefeated Jose Pedraza at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He then traveled over to the UK and knocked out mandatory challenger Liam Walsh.

Damn, Dib is past it and Frenois is a Euro level fighter. Looks like it's going to be back to back easy wins for Tank. He's still really young though and this will be a mando, so nothing he can…
