In a recent interview with Bernard Fernandez of the Philadelphia Daily News, Bernard Hopkins aired out his thoughts on Winky Wright, Trinidad's loss and what all of this means for his career.

Hopkins said that Trinidad had no choice, but to retire from the sport of boxing, his aura of being a feared fighter was no over.

"Tito is a dead man. Nobody's going to pay big bucks to see me do to Trinidad what Winky already did to him. I softened up Trinidad real good for Winky or anybody else that can box a little bit I opened the floodgates. It's like when guys started standing up to Mike Tyson. The intimidation factor was gone. Same thing here. Nobody's scared of Trinidad now." said Hopkins

Hopkins agrees with Winky Wright, he feels that Trinidad, promoter Don King and the Trinidad camp underestimated the abilities of Wright.

"What else can Trinidad do now but retire? His balance is gone. It seemed like he could barely stand up. He's got the herky-jerkies. It does nothing for my legacy now to beat up Trinidad again. Tito, Papa Trinidad and Don King didn't do their homework. Winky Wright has always been a spoiler, and he's hungry. For years, he's been screwed over, just like Vernon Forrest was. This was his big chance. He wasn't about to blow it."

Everyone anticipated that Hopkins would face Trinidad conqueror Winky Wright, but Hopkins said that fight will probably never happen due to financial reasons. Hopkins does not feel that there is enough money to be made in the fight.

"Probably not (on facing Wright). Oh, I might make $4 million or $5 million for fighting Winky. But if I had fought Trinidad again, I might have gotten $15 million after asking for $20 million. So I guess I'm down to two fights now."

The two fights Hopkins is referencing to is his July meeting with Jermain Taylor and should he beat Taylor, Hopkins wants to face the winner of the upcoming bout between Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson for his final career bout. A move up to light heavyweight for a possible meeting with either Tarver and Johnson would be a very dangerous fight for Bernard.
