Barthelemy Could See Pacquiao Stopping Broner in Six Rounds

By Ryan Burton

Rances Barthelemy (26-1-1) returns to the ring on Saturday night in Brooklyn, New York. It will be his first fight since losing a unanimous decision to Kiryl Relikh in March.

The fight will be on the Jermall Charlo-Willie Monroe undercard and his oppnent will be Robert Frankel (36-19-1).

After this fight the former Cuban amateur standout would like to face the best that the lightweight and super lightweight division have to offer.

"I want any of the big names at 135 or 140.  Any of them.  I would take Robert Easter, Broner, or any of the champions. I want to be a champion again," said Barthelemy.

Next month Broner returns to the ring against Manny Pacquiao in a Showtime pay-per-view event that will be broadcast live from Las Vegas, NV where Barthelemy lives.

When asked to pick a winner, didn’t hesitation in picking the Filipino senator.

"If the Pacquiao who beat Matthysse shows up versus Broner then I don't think the fight goes more than 5 or 6 rounds.  I thought the Argentine (Lucas Matthysse) would give Pacquiao problems but what a performance by Pacquiao. It made my jaw drop," Barthelemy told BoxingScene.com.

The 32-year-old is extremely motivated to return to the top level in the sport. His ultimate goal is to capture a title in the super lightweight division.

"I want to be champion again. We are looking to go back to 135 first but I really want to be a champion at 140 so that I can be the first Cuban three-division champion," said Barthelemy.

Broner is a tough guy, I expect Pac to win but I'd be surprised if he gets halted in there
