At the Palacio de la Cultura y Comunicación (PALCCO) in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, rising super middleweight Avni “Mr. Robot” Yildirim (16-0, 10 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Marco Antonio Periban (25-4-1, 16 KOs) in an action-packed fight for the WBC International title.

Periban started very well and used his jabs and kept a good distance with Turkish fighter.

After the sixth round, Yildirim took the control and landed powerful punches and knocked Periban down in eleventh round. Both sides gave an amazing boxing show to the local fans in attendance as they traded punches.

The loss snaps a five fight winning streak for Periban, who got his career back on track after suffering a knockout loss to current IBF world champion James DeGale back in 2014 in the UK.

With this victory, Yildirim remained in position to get the next mandatory shot at the WBC world title.

There is already a fight scheduled for the vacant belt, between former world champion Anthony Dirrell and undefeated Callum Smith. That fight has yet to receive a finalized date and venue.

The World Boxing Council belt became vacant earlier this year when champion Badou Jack, following a unification draw with DeGale, announced he was moving up in weight to the light heavyweight limit of 175-pounds.
