Reports are circulating with respect to a possible clash between undisputed super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe and IBF light heavyweight champ Clinton Woods. Calzaghe's promoter, Frank Warren, says that negotiations with Woods are at a "very early stage and several opponents are being considered for Calzaghe's next fight."
Warren told Sportinglife that minor negotiations for a Calzaghe-Woods bout took place a few weeks ago, but nothing has been recently discussed between both sides.
"The fight was only a few weeks ago and I haven't had chance to sit down with Joe yet. There have been some preliminary talks (with Woods' camp) but there's nothing at the moment," Warren said.
Other possible opponents for Calzaghe include Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr., should he beat Felix Trinidad on Jan. 19 in New York.
