Undefeated Ricky Hatton (43-0, 31KOs), in a recent interview with Sky Sports 1 , said that WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (38-0, 24KOs) is taking him lightly. Hatton challenges Mayweather for his title on Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"In my eyes this fight is already even over. I think Floyd is going to get the shock of his life," Hatton said. "I think he has taken me lightly. I think he just thinks the obvious - I'm a strong kid, high work rate, loads of punches, body punches, I've fought 500 of them. Well I think he's going to get a shock."
In the past, Hatton has struggled with weight and tactical mistakes inside the ring. He calls the mistakes a learning process, adding that it made him into a better fighter.
"I've learnt by my mistakes and I think I'll be better for it, and I'll have to be because he's a five-weight world champion," Hatton said. "I've shown in fights that I've got the boxing ability to do it. My power, my angles, my feinting, my moving in quick on opponents, my speed of footwork along with the boxing ability - I just think I know what to do against Floyd Mayweather."
