WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has promised to put on a more exciting show when he meets Ricky "Tha Hitman" Hatton on Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on HBO PPV. In a conversation with Sky Sports , Mayweather made it clear that his fight with Hatton will not be like his previous ring outing, a split-decision win against Oscar De La Hoya on May 5.
"He's a tough fighter, a brawler, but me myself being an elusive boxer I'm going to show off my versatility," Mayweather said. "I'm going to go out there and get the fans excited. "I think they want a little bit more excitement in this fight than they saw in the De La Hoya fight, because that was a smart chess match.
"But I'm going to go out there and just be the best Floyd Mayweather. I'm going to go out there and get the fans excited because that's what they really want."
Mayweather, currently training for the fight and participating on the reality show "Dancing With The Stars," feels that his involvement with the show will bring more people to the sport of boxing.
"This is pushing me to the limit, as far as taking on two big challenges at the same time; as far as Dancing With The Stars and fighting one of the biggest fights in welterweight history," Mayweather said. "It's something I enjoy, the fans enjoy and its going to bring non-boxing fans to boxing - because the sport of boxing is going nowhere."
